Transient

It is a commission by Modus Operandi for Guy's Hospital Bereavement Centre.

Transformation is one of the key elements of life. This artwork considers the transformation of energies, a flowing sensation of life moving on, and the metamorphosis of elements into different states.

The ceramic circles arranged across the walls refer to the different kinds of energy that create all matter. These have been hand-made using a variety of actions, different tools, and an assortment of colours.

On the opposite wall these circles are transformed into vivid circular spirograph drawings. The drawings are a suggestion of what might be found within the small cirecles of the opposite wall, should the viewer take a closer look.

The use of a spirograph, an instrument that also records the movement of breathing, is intended to reflect the evolving journey of life.

The work consists of ceramic work, vinyl on glass, inkjet print on canvas.
